Step 1 - Download and Install Tunnelblick

 

Click here to visit the Tunnelblick home page and download the application.

To install Tunnelblick, download the latest disk image from the featured downloads section on the main project page. Double-click it and drag the Tunnelblick.app icon to the shortcut to the Applications folder, or to any other location on your local hard disk. You can find more detailed instructions at the Tunnelblick WIKI.

Start Tunnelblick and enter your password if asked. Select the option to install and edit sample configuration files, which will create the directory you need to store the SwitchVPN configuration files. Close the switchvpn-us.conf file that opens at the end of this step, then quit Tunnelblick by clicking on the Tunnelblick icon at the top-right of your screen.

Step 2 - Download and Install Configuration Files

 

Download the SwitchVPN OpenVPN configuration files from Here. Open the downloaded zip files and copy the contents (not the zip file itself) in the directory ~/Library/openvpn (where ~ is your home directory).

Step 3 - Connect to SwitchVPN OpenVPN

 

Start Tunnelblick from the Applications folder and click on the Tunnelblick icon at the top-right of your screen. Choose which service you wish to connect to; either:

* SwitchVPN-US to connect through our servers located in USA, which will make all your browsing look like it is coming from a machine based in USA; or

If asked, you may need to enter your user password again to allow Tunnelblick to make configuration changes.

You should then be asked for your SwitchVPN username and password, which you chose when you signed up for the service. Enter these and click OK to start the connection.

The Tunnelblick icon at the top-right of your screen will then start blinking to indicate that the connection is opening. When successfully connected, part of the icon will become clear.

Step 4 - Surf

 

If you have followed the instructions above, you should now be connected to SwitchVPN and can start using the internet anonymously, securely and privately.

To confirm that SwitchVPN is doing its job, we recommend you visit a site such as www.whatismyip.com, where you should see SwitchVPN's IP address instead of your own.
